An audio recording released by Wisconsin aviation officials reveals the cool-headedness of an 80-year-old woman who took the controls of the airplane her husband had been flying when he keeled over.
“I gotta land pretty quick. My back gauge shows nothing,” the retired secretary says during the first of a couple of attempts to reach the runway.
